Buxton Festival is an opera, music and literature festival, with over 100 events to see in 17 days. We specialise in programming the rarely performed operas, which are then sung in English. The morning Literary Series attracts speakers with a broad interest in well-crafted writing, whether in biography, fiction, politics or personal memoir. Afternoon events include concerts, recitals, drama, workshops and ballet. Our Education and Community work is an important part of the Festival programme with a community opera every year and many other activities involving residents of the High Peak.
